Environmental Management, Plans and Programmes
Environmental Management Plans or Programs are in general, a
pre-requisite for
approval to commence construction and operation of facilities
assessed by regulatory authorities.
They may be a prescribed condition or environmental commitment
offered by proponents wishing to achieve a high level of environmental
performance for their Project.
KASA Consulting has extensive experience in the development of EMP’s
for a range of civil works, mining, industrial or oil and gas
operations. We believe that
EMPs need to be practical in order to achieve successful environmental
outcomes as well as to meet minimum regulatory requirements or
standards. To this end, in
developing either Construction or Operational EMPs for any Project,
KASA Consulting works closely with our clients to ensure that proposed
management commitments and impact mitigation measures are effective,
achievable and auditable.
We prepare EMPs to cover a range of issues including but not limited
to:
·
Flora and vegetation;
·
Fauna;
·
Marine impacts;
·
Noise;
·
Air quality including point source and fugitive emissions (e.g. dust);
·
Surface and ground water resource protection;
·
Rehabilitation and topsoil management;
·
Acid Mine drainage and Acid Sulphate Soils; and
·
Heritage.
We believe that a robust EMP addresses
significant issues identified through a risk assessment process and
includes a clear monitoring program, proposed corrective action and
contingency measures, reporting regimes and links to the company’s
Environmental Management System where applicable.
